But the following year, SkyBox dug deeper into the mine to revitalize the parallel with a touch of rarity. The 1997 SkyBox Premium football set saw the debut of the now-classic /50 Ruby parallel. The concept was inspired by star ruby gemstones that feature a unique internal star-shaped phenomenon called an asterism, making a star ruby featuring prominent color, cut, clarity, and carat among the scarcest gemstones on the planet. That rarity carried over to football cards such as this Jerry Rice #200SR. With a print run /50, this represents one of the receiving legend's rarest playing-days cards.
