When Topps returned to the basketball card market in 1992, the company wanted to make a splash after it had missed the past decade. There were few better ways to make your presence known in the early 1990s than by producing a laser show, and Topps took it a step further by producing a flashy foil insert to go along with it. Topps sponsored a six-minute laser show called Beams Above the Rim, which debuted at the 1993 NBA All-Star Game and included a video display of players coming alive out of Topps cards. Then, the company released the Beam Team insert in the second series of its Stadium Club cards. Included on the 31-card checklist was rookie Shaquille O'Neal. This card remains one of his most iconic cards ever.
A set of Members Only parallels were included in a special 1992-93 Topps Stadium Club Basketball factory set that was made available exclusive to Topps' Members Only Club. A total of 10,000 of the sets were produced, each containing both the base set and the Beam Team inserts.
Beam Team Members Only versions are virtually identical to the pack-inserted cards. The only difference is a small embossed stamp on the front, which is visible by Shaq's extended arm.
This is one of 61 copies graded a Gem Mint PSA 10, which is less than half as many as the pack-issued version.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 06/10/2026.
