The 200-card 2018 Topps Chrome baseball checklist took the best of that year’s flagship release and covered it in glorious shine. Unsurprisingly, one of the cards to make the jump to Chrome was Shohei Ohtani. Because he made his debut for the Halos on Opening Day of the 2018 season and only signed with the team that summer, Topps included him in Series 2 of the flagship release. Topps Series 2 #700 depicts Ohtani in the traditional home Angel whites at the top of his windup and is the flagship Topps rookie card for the Japanese phenom.
That same card slots in at #150 in the Chrome set. The release once again included a range of Refractors, including Hobby-exclusive Gold Wave editions with a print run /50. This marquee Ohtani and its PSA 10 grade should incite a wave of interest throughout this month’s Premier Auction.
