It is part of the debut Select Basketball under Panini. While the brand dates back to the early 1990s, it was resurrected as a chromium product. The base set was a lot different than it would evolve into a short time later. Future Select sets adopted a tiered system where many top players would have multiple base cards, each with an assortment of parallels. Here, Bryant has just one base card. The parallels were also a lot more limited in 2012-13 with Bryant and the set's other base cards only having four parallels each.
