In 2014, Nikola Jokic entered the NBA Draft. Fresh off a season in the Serbian basketball league, the 6-foot-11, 19-year-old kid decided to turn pro. He did not get much attention coming off a season during which he averaged 10.9 points, 6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. In the draft, teams picked 40 players before Denver selected Jokic in the second round. The average NBA fan has not heard of about 35 of those players in the decade since the draft. As for Joker, most scouts now consider him arguably the biggest draft steal in league history.
Following three MVPs and an NBA title, Jokic’s status in the annals of the NBA extends far beyond outplaying his No. 41 draft slot. However, at the time, much like most basketball fans, Jokic was overlooked by card companies. Unlike many of the top picks, he has noticeably fewer autographs and memorabilia cards. That's what makes this immense card even more impressive.
This 2015-16 Panini Immaculate Collection Dual Rookie Logoman Autographs of Nikola Jokic and Emmanuel Mudiay is one of just three total Joker cards from his freshman season with both the iconic logo patch and his signature. It joins a Rookie Logoman Autographs and another Dual, this time with Nemanja Bjelica—all from 2015-16 Immaculate.
While Jokic has a rookie autograph in National Treasures, he didn't receive the full rookie patch autograph treatment. As such, he doesn't have a Logoman signature in the product. He only has autographs in 2015-16 Flawless as well. That makes Immaculate that most important product when it comes to his very best rookies.
Befitting such a premium product, both autographs are on-card. The full-sized patches display beautifully with the overall elegant design complimenting it nicely.
Although the card has not received a numerical grade, it has been authenticated by CGC.
