By winning Super Bowl XLIX against the Seahawks, Tom Brady put himself in a tie with Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana for the most Super Bowl victories among quarterbacks. By claiming his fourth Lombardi Trophy, the already growing comparisons between Brady and Montana became more apparent, and it is unlikely that it was a coincidence that Brady’s 2015 Topps 60th Anniversary insert card was printed on the 1981 Topps design—as that happens to be the set that includes Montana’s rookie card. In its last year of production before Panini’s exclusive license took effect, Topps revisited 60 years of football history in its 2015 release, showcasing a full slate of veterans and legends on classic Topps designs from the past. This month’s Premier Auction gives collectors a chance to capture a bit of that history with Brady’s 2015 Topps Chrome 60th Anniversary 1/1 Superfractor, a card that helped bring a successful close to 20 years of the chromium product.
