Released to English markets in 2003, Skyridge was the final English Pokemon Trading Card Game set released by Wizards of the Coast before The Pokemon Company revoked their rights to produce cards. Featuring absolutely stunning artwork from top to bottom, this set is known for its breathtaking backgrounds with dynamic illustrations, but is most noteworthy for its Crystal Pokemon chase cards: Crobat, Celebi, Golem, Ho-Oh, Kabutops, and Charizard. These Crystal cards featured a Crystal Type Poke-BODY power that allowed them to change their card typing depending on what energy card attached to them, allowing for more strategic game plays, and harder to predict match results. Illustrated by legendary artists such as Mitsuhiro Arita, Kouki Saitou, and Hajime Kusajima they rank among the most beautiful Pokemon cards, hosting vibrant colors, glittering cardstocks, and mesmerizing character designs that have yet to be replicated two decades later. The box itself is also a work of art as one of the only holographic booster boxes that the Pokemon TCG ever released. Shining with a crystalline pattern to it in the light, it features 3D rendered illustrations of Crobat, Kabutops, and Ho-Oh prominently on the front with supplemental illustrations of Pokemon such as Jolteon, and Aerodactyl on the sides. This set also contains the final Kadabra card produced for nearly two decades as a result of a lawsuit with magician Uri Geller that has only been recently settled, finally allowing the spoon-bending psychic-type to get its time in the spotlight again. Coupled with fantastic production quality compared to other Pokemon cards released by Wizards of the Coast, and an extremely low print run, this box stands as one of the most coveted of Pokemon cards ever released.
