Jordan took the NBA by storm after a successful stint at North Carolina. In the 1982 NCAA Finals, he sunk a jump shot with 14 seconds left to put the Tar Heels up by one against Patrick Ewing and Georgetown, enough to win the title. It provided a glimpse into his unparalleled clutch play. The replay of the shot shows he did not hesitate—as he would not hesitate throughout his career to deliver in the biggest moments. Offered is a high grade example of Michael Jordan's true rookie card--1984-85 Star Basketball #101. This card is often plagued by edge chipping as well as massive centering shifts. As a result, it seldom earns a BGS 8.5 assessment. It did so here. The offered specimen boasts above average centering for the issue along with edges which lack chipping. This card's surfaces are absolutely gorgeous, boasting flawless print as well as a wicked color scheme. A near undetectable touch to the card's reverse lower right corner tip is likely all that caused Beckett to flinch at awarding the overall '9' grade. Indeed, the '86 Fleer #57 card serves as Michael's most recognized rookie card however the '84-85 Star predates this issue and tracks back to the earliest days of His Airness being on an NBA court. Note that there are no professional stats on the reverse of this card, only North Carolina Tar Heel tallies. Imagine seeing this card in your PWCC Vault every day.
