Beginning with the 2011 Autumn Battle Carnival, Pokémon trainers competed to earn one of three Victory Cup prize cards as they sought to qualify for the following year’s World Championships. This tournament awarded prizes to the top three trainers in each league, with six first-place, six second-place, and six third-place winners receiving Victory Cups. Although the 2012 Spring Battle Carnival followed a similar format, each award tier produced 12 winners. Meanwhile, the 2012 Autumn Battle Carnival only awarded Victory Cups to the top three competitors in the Junior League and the Open League, with six first-, second-, and third-place winners taking home the prize cards. In addition to its incredible scarcity and the difficulty of earning these printings, this is one of only two examples of the 2012 Autumn Battle Carnival 2nd Place Victory Cup to earn a PSA 10 designation. So, while this Victory Cup represents the runner-up from a tournament held more than a decade ago, it will serve as a big winner for one collector in this month’s Premier Auction.
