Most collectors have probably never seen this card let alone seen it in a PSA 10. PSA has only graded 13 examples. This is the only example that received PSA’s highest grade. Thus, the winning bidder will own a 1/1 of a highly desired vintage card. Lower grade examples show color fading, centering issues, corner wear, and surface damage. Since the card first hit the hands of Cleveland Naps fans more than a century ago, it should come as no surprise. The Naps, of course, would become the Indians in 1915. This example, like much of Young’s career, presents a flawless performance. By 1910, Young had recorded 16 seasons with 20+ wins and a microscopic 1.26 ERA in 1908, the lowest of his career. He won a staggering 30+ games during four seasons. And no pitcher in MLB history, which began in 1876, has won more games (511) than Cy Young. Nobody is even close. To add to his historic achievements, Young pitched the first perfect game in MLB history in 1904. How did Young amass so many wins and set a record that will likely remain unbroken forever? A wicked fastball and sensational control. We do not expect investors to exhibit the same level of control when bidding on this gem begins. This monumentally impressive card was found in Ohio, along with many other uncirculated cards from the highly admired Standard Caramel like issue. The card is virtually brand new, boasting a level of preservation foreign to the eyes of most pre-war collectors. Every aspect of this card has earned their GEM MINT assessment. This card belongs in a museum or on the top shelf of one of the world’s finest trading card collections.
