Introduced as a special chase card for the Pokemon Trading Card Game, Gold Star cards have a pull rate of only one per every 2 boxes, and as such command tremendous premiums as a result. Shiny Pokemon were introduced in the Pokemon Gold & Silver games to players as a sort of special chase to keep them motivated into playing, with only approximately 1 in every 4000 Pokemon being shiny. These shiny Pokemon would have distinct color variations from their standard counterparts, and would have a dazzling entrance animation when going into battle that would scatter stars all over the screen. The Charizard Gold Star designed by Masakazu Fukuda showcases the black and red color pallet of the shiny Charizard, offering breathtaking rendition of the fire-breathing Pokemon that seems to be burning the card’s borders itself. One of only 95 PSA 10s currently graded, this card is one of the most popular Gold Stars ever made and a lynchpin for any Charizard or Gold Star collection.
