Though only a fresh-faced 21-year-old at the time, Stephen Curry helped make Panini’s push into super-premium high-end basketball cards a success in 2009. As the seventh overall selection in the draft, Curry landed among the 38 rookies in the first slate of National Treasures RPAs—and that offering has become one of the most notable modern basketball cards in the industry. Featuring oversized—and often intricate—patches and hard-signed signatures, the first-year NT RPAs provided a sizzling start for what has become the industry’s most coveted Rookie Patch Auto each year. Two parallels covered the 2009 Playoff National Treasures rookies—leading to cards such as this /25 Century Gold example of Curry’s RPA. As eight-card boxes of the inaugural edition of National Treasures hit store shelves on August 4, 2010, Curry was putting his championship mindset to the test. That same week, he focused on locking down one of the final spots on Team USA’s roster for the FIBA World Championships in Turkey. Curry helped Team USA finish 9-0 to win that title, giving him more firepower as an elite choice among the rookies on the NT RPA checklist—and earning one of the earliest of his many accolades. This example of Curry’s /25 Gold Century RPA features a three-color, multi-break patch from the “RS” portion of the “WARRIORS” team name across his jersey. A hard-signed BGS Auto 10 signature completes the offering—making for a stunning example of the iconic rookie card that helped establish NT as a reputable high-end brand. Curry was the perfect player to anchor the set, as he would soon rise to the pinnacle of the NBA—becoming a record-breaking 3-point shooter and leading the Warriors to three championships between 2015 and ’18 (and adding a fourth in 2022). Curry owns four of the top five spots in the NBA’s record book for both single-season 3-pointers and single-postseason 3-pointers made, and through the 2022-23 season, Curry had made 417 more regular-season 3-pointers and 117 more playoff 3-pointers than any other player in history—numbers that should continue to grow as he closes out his career. The two-time MVP adds to his sparkling reputation by giving his time and financial resources to various philanthropic endeavors. His balanced diet of championship pedigree, on-court success, and off-court presence has kept him among the most popular players in the NBA (according to jersey sales). The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 03/01/2024.
