On December 13, 2022, Alexander Ovechkin became just the third player in NHL history to put the biscuit in the basket 800 times. Since then, he’s had his sights set on Wayne Gretzky’s all-time record of 894 goals. A recent goal-scoring run has seen Ovi pull within 10 of the Great One. With it seemingly only a matter of time until Ovechkin etches his name in the history books as the most prolific scorer in history, not to mention the Caps’ potential for a deep postseason run this year, interest in cards such as this 2005 Upper Deck HG Glossy parallel /10 could continue to increase. Other marquee Ovi RCs have larger print runs, such as his The Cup RPA /99 and SP Authentic /999. So, while the goals record of 894 is certainly a number worth keeping in mind, this offering’s /10 production makes this one of Ovechkin’s rarest rookies.
