There are a few cards that have become so legendary in the marketplace that collectors only need to refer to them by their name: the Honus Wagner, Mantle, and, of course, this Jordan. And it is only fitting that the most famous card in basketball history appeared in arguably the most important set in basketball history. In 1986, Fleer inked a licensing deal with the NBA to print 132 cards and 11 stickers featuring the game’s best players. After several years without a mainstream hoops product, the set featured rookie issues of a range of future Hall of Famers. As he did on the court, Jordan stands above them all in the eyes of collectors, with his '86 Fleer RC ascending to the highest heights of sports card collecting in the years since.
This PSA 10 Jordan rookie is a Gem Mint example of the crown jewel of hoops collecting. Free from some of the issues that often plague '86 Fleer cards, including centering and chipping problems, it's a prime example of the greatest basketball card of all time. Just 1.2% of the 28,200-plus PSA-graded examples of this card have earned a 10 holder. Just as the Chicago Bulls didn’t pass up on a chance to add a 6’6” guard from North Carolina to their roster in 1984, plenty of collectors will be looking to add this legendary piece of sports card history to their personal lineup.
