One of the most beloved vintage sports sets of all time, the ‘48 Leaf checklist is full of beloved printings, one of the most storied of which is undoubtedly the Satchel Paige #8 rookie. The stunning lithograph and vibrant yellow background reflects the reverse-side text that calls the legendary hurler, “Most picturesque player in baseball.” And this revered rookie remains one of the most beloved cards in baseball collecting history. Its overall graded Pop. count pales in comparison to other marquee entries from the ‘48 Leaf checklist, including the beloved Stan Musial #4 and Jackie Robinson #79 rookies and Babe Ruth #3 and Ted Williams #76.
