The Essential Credentials parallels from the 1998 Skybox E-X2001 football set have become essential football card collection additions. And few players embody the concept of ""essential"" more than Barry Sanders when it comes to collecting '90s football cards.
The now-iconic Essential Credentials Future parallel set featured inverse serial numbering based on a player’s location in the checklist. Sanders slots in at #5 in the 60-card set, thus creating an /56 print run for his Future parallel. These printings, as well as the Essental Credentials Now cards that joined them in the ‘98 E-X2001 product, are known for being notoriously difficult to find in quality condition thanks to their sensitive edges and surfaces. As such, this Pop. 2 PSA 8 with only five graded higher by the service can feel harder to pin down than Sanders in the open field. There are bound to be plenty of bidders doing their best to tackle the challenge of adding this sweet Barry to their collection this month.
