Deciding that wax packs didn’t deliver enough intrigue, in 1999 Fleer debuted the gridiron version of its Mystique product to max out the mystery for football collectors. Each pack contained one covered card that was hidden under a protective coating that could be peeled off.
Equally mysterious at that time was a rookie quarterback from the University of Michigan taken with the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL Draft. Tom Brady was included in the Rookies portion of the Mystique checklist, with each of those RCs having a stated base print run of 2,000.
The quarterback's rookie card has just two parallels including this Gold version. Available for all 145 cards in the base set, Gold cards appeared approximately every 12 packs. That means finding a specific player, such as Brady, would be 1:1,740 packs.
This is one of just 11 Gem Mint PSA 10 copies.
The certification number on this card has been checked against the third-party grader's online database and is active as of 06/04/2026.
