1996-97 Skybox E-X2000 raised the bar for basketball cards in the ‘90s thanks to a breathtaking design that included color foil borders and die-cut inset player images. It did not hurt that the rookie class included Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Stephon Marbury, and Ray Allen.
But those attributes that make those marquee rookies so treasured also make grading them a challenge. As such, these cards rarely service in Gem Mint condition. Of the more than 7,330 examples of the Black Mamba’s E-X2000 rookie assessed by PSA, this is one of just 24 to earn a Gem Mint PSA 10 grade.
Bryant’s stature in the game and the collecting industry and that small gem rate make this an essential addition to any high-end Kobe collection.
