While the foil stamp on the back of the Mark Jackson 1997-98 Metal Universe Precious Metal Gems (PMG) Green parallel reads 003/100, that doesn’t tell the whole story of this enchanting emerald’s rarity. The ‘97 debut of the SkyBox Metal Universe product brought with it an eye-popping design that set players in front of comic-style art spearheaded by Marvel veteran Jean MacLeod. But the lasting legacy of those PMG parallel beauties shines brightest. The first 10 cards of each /100 PMG print run have green foil, with the final 90 having a red foil scheme. Thus, the print run of ‘97 Metal Universe PMG Greens is effectively /10.
Any Green PMG is worthy of the ample attention it receives from bidders when it hits the auction block. But the presence of Larry Johnson, one of the greatest stars of that era, will have plenty of collectors making a play for this great Green piece.
